The Welfare Warriors have easily been the most unstable team in the league this season with a constantly growing or changing roster. But it seems that as of late they have finally found their winning combination. The team started small with Jeremy Litton in the driver's seat as the team's captain with Troy Twisdale returning from last year. It has most definitely been a transition phase for both Litton and Twisdale as they parted ways with the Terrorhawks at the beginning of the season to start their own expansion team. Litton was quick to begin recruiting a solid third player and brought Michael Sumner onto the team. Sumner had not played any wiffleball since the 2007 season in the GDWL. Next, Chris Ramey (a free agent) joined the team just before the season started. After a couple rough weeks of defeats at the beginning of the season they picked up Luke Davis but Chris Ramey decided to part ways with the team and join up with Beaver Fever. Dylan Evans has since filled out the roster for the Warriors and the team has won a couple games, a feat that many did not believe possible. The team can often be seen (and definitely heard) heckling each other and pulling all types of antics. The team has, until recently, struggled to find a solid pitcher but Sumner, Evans, and Davis have created a type of rotation that seems to work well enough. The Warriors will still have to find a way to score runs and play good defense if they hope to continue winning this season. A lot of their loses have been from mercy-ruled games and they have been outscored 142 to 33 this season. They need to close that gap and with a full roster they may now be able to work on that. They have been able to score runs lately and if they improve on defense they may just catch a few teams by surprise. Bottom line - don't count this team out.
